MORE ways to get PAID than just MONEY

HOW MANY ways do you get paid OTHER THAN in money?

WHY I ask is that those who cannot accept ALTERNATIVE 'currency' will be left behind as the lowest paid in their industry. THOSE who have multiple ways of getting paid NOT JUST in money move to the FRONT of the line of opportunity and end up the most highly compensated in their industry for the role they are performing.

BECAUSE their flexibility makes it EASIER for project MANAGERS to 'buy' them WITHOUT risking scarce project budget and cashflow taking on an EXPENSIVE alternative whose technical skills are NOT that much better.

SO HOW critical is budget and cashflow to a Project Manager. To answer this question I strongly urge you to read this article "HIRING The Best Of The Left-Behind" in Forbes Magazine.

I disagree with this article.. I don't believe they are hiring the best in their field.. They are hiring those who talk better than the others... They are also hiring those who make it easy to buy them and who work hard to help project manager to minimise the risk of eating scarce project budget and cashflow....

In short they have MORE ways to get PAID than just MONEY.

MORE ways to get paid than just MONEY is just 15 minutes away

5 STEPS to INCREASE value of your CERTS

5 STEPS you as a TECHNICIAN can take right NOW to INCREASE the VALUE of your CERTS

The truth of the matter is CERTS just get you in the game.. BUT now that you are in the game what differentiates YOU from all the other CERTS.. Why should a buyer buy your certs when s/he can get 100 more like you?

If you want to build a VENDING machine (and not a SLOT machine) as a model for your Contracting Business then

STEP 1 LOOK around your workplace.. NOTICE... FIND the Audience that BUYS you
How do your team mates buy you? How does your recruiter buy you? How does your end client buy you?

STEP 2 Approach, ASK, Communicate, UNcover THEIR frustrations
What frustrates your team mates? What frustrates your Team Lead? Think back on all past projects and notice how 'REOCCURRING' this is? What damage does it expose the project to?

STEP 3 COLLECT the best of breed solutions
Think back over past projects. Notice how it was solved on past projects? BECOME an INVESTOR in ISSUES and their solutions to overcome them

STEP 4 Approach, ASK, Communicate, find out IF its something they want solved and when?
Just because WE may see something as urgent does not mean it is.. Just because the buyer wants it does not mean they want it now.. so ALWAYS get clear with your buyer and save YOURSELF a lot of unnecessary suffering.

STEP 5 Offer to HELP them step through their BUYING decision to protect against making the wrong decision
This is the most important step. Just because your buyer is over the moon and WANTS your solution its BEST to HELP them step through THEIR decision to buy so it has maximum chance of being a fit with THEIR culture

Are you milking your Value to the max

Make hay while the sun shines... You will have made some hay during the last 'shine' but those who followed this advice and positioned themselves in their market correctly, honed their skills, communicated their value, maximised their charge out rate, reduced their level of debt, built a solid bank of cash, over the past five years will most certainly have milked their value better.

So with that in mind let me ask... to what extent are you milking your value to the max OR is the habit of leaving bags of money on the table NOT important?

Anthony Robbins on Goals

Is your goal
a NICE-TO-HAVE...
a SHOULD..
or a MUST

(here's something I found on Youtube you may want to ponder briefly)

WE ARE our MUSTS NOW

What is MORE (frightening) is we ARE our MUSTS NOW

IF what Tony Robbins is saying is TRUE... that we ALWAYS GET our must's and only dream about our should's THEN perhaps a far more URGENT task for us right now is to KNOW our CURRENT MUSTS to explain WHY we are NOT embracing our DREAM CONTRACT.

So to what EXTENT is knowing your EXISTING MUSTS important?

CONFLICTS in your SUCCESS CYCLE

BUT LETS SAY you HAVE your MUSTS.

You have your GOAL MUSTS... AND you KNOW your CURRENT musts

NOW WHAT do you do to RESOLVE the CONFLICTS?

What happens if you DON'T RESOLVE 'conflict' in your musts?

What IMPACT will this have on your 'Potential' in your SUCCESS CYCLE?
  • I want to make millions of dollars it is a must but (I am certain) I don't have the time
  • I want to be highly sought after IT Contractor it is a must but (I am certain) I don't want anyone to judge me
  • I want to be paid more it is a must but (I am certain) I don't know how to give more value
  • I want to change my beliefs it is a must but (I am certain) I can't do any more than I have... that I have exhausted all there is for me to do... AND believe that change is difficult and takes an impossible length of time

SO to what EXTENT is LOCATING and RESOLVING conflicting musts IMPORTANT?
How will that help me find the ability I am missing?
How will I see my 'potential'?
How will I leap into 'action'? or not?
What sort of 'results' can I predict? or not?
What sort of 'belief' will be increased, reduced, removed, added?
And how will that feed back into the cycle at the top?

WHAT TAKES AWAY from your PAY?

BELIEVE IT OR NOT
Some contractors are happy with what they are getting paid...

but are NOT happy with what 'IS TAKEN AWAY'......
